Is G–d a quiet or is He communicating with us? What is He saying and what do we hear? Is there anything to hear or is it all something that He did to a few thousands of years ago?
There is a lot of teaching in the churches around the world, hearing the voice of God. Personally I have always found Him to be very active communicator. He really wants to keep us up to date with all that He finds important.
It is clear from the Bible right from the beginning, and especially from the time after He had created Adam and formed Eva. With Abraham, He began to be very specific in His information flow to Adam, and the people around him, continued through to his son and grandson. Did you already see it was not all the people who had a personal communication with G_d.
For some years now, I have had a very clear urge upon me to read the Torah, the first five books that is ascribed to Moses, almost every day, every single day, The Holy Spirit made words and sentences stand out in a special way, even I have been reading the books for several times, I haven't been seeing the same the next time around as I did the time before. Could I find the instructions from the time before? Yes indeed, but new every time. So why did I have to go through the Old Hebrew scriptures in this way? The Holy Spirit made it very clear the other day. I had to learn to listen like a Hebrew to be able to understand the New Covenant Scriptures in a Hebrew way.
So back to the Hearing the Voice of G_D. Why is it that so many people does not really hear the voice of G_D? Again it was impressed upon me, that when we only want to hear His voice for ourselves, we will hear less and less, but when we hear for sharing with others we will near more and more. G_d will not share with our selfish desires. The more we give away and are willing to obey His directions and corrections, we will receive more.
The heading of this blog post could just as well have been the Voice of G_D, or Hearing the Voice of G_D. Every time I have a new sermon for the body of believers, I have to chew the message first, and even that is not always enough, to let the message teach me first before I can give it to others. After listening to Shane Willard's teaching, I have been reminded that before we share anything with others, we have to make sure we are doing it with the same love, intent, and way that Yeshua did (Jesus). People who knew the Bible, the Tanach, came to Yeshua again and again, the Bible says this God says this what do you say? Yeshua always turned it around so He never judged anybody, but showed love.
